SCD’s Student Exchange Program offers the opportunity to enjoy another culture, gain life skills, broaden
your employment opportunities and live the overseas experience, without interruption to your studies.
About Student Exchange to the SCD
If your home institution is a partner institution and has an exchange agreement with the SCD,
you can study at the SCD and pay tuition and fees (whether fees are paid to your home institution or to the
hosting institution depends on the specific agreement) to your home institution. There will still be other
costs you will need to budget for such as accommodation, meals, international and local transportation,
student fees and textbooks.
You will be nominated to be considered for the Student Exchange Program by your institution's Exchange
Coordinator. Eligible degree level students choose to do either one, two or three quarters in the SCD
(each quarter is approximately 11 weeks--there are three quarters in the 9 month academic year which runs
from late September until late June).
Depending on the agreement in place your study may be credited to your degree in your home country.
A variety of accommodation options include:
Fee Paying Study Abroad
If your institution has an exchange agreement with the SCD but you are not nominated or accepted to
come to the SCD in the “student exchange” category, you may still enroll and pay tuition at the SCD
for up to one academic year. You may be eligible for a partial fee waiver due to your institution's
Partnership status. Please enquire directly to SCD Global Initiatives by email:
If your institution does not have an Exchange Agreement with the SCD, you may apply directly as an
international student and pay full fees to any of the Seattle College District International Offices:
